The Beginning

I have always had a great love of food ever since I was a young girl watching my mother bake tarts and crumbles to give as gifts to family, friends and neighbours. Baking played a strong role within our household growing up as my mother was a stay at home mum who devoted her time to the usual household rituals such as cooking, cleaning and child rearing. Many of the recipes she used were passed down to her from her mother (my grandmother) and were very special to both her and I.

As my mother devoted her time to baking it was inevitable that one of her children would develop that same passion that consumed her. Although  many of my siblings enjoy cooking and baking they do not have the same interest with food as I have.

My passion for food developed when I began my degree in Culinary Arts. I knew four years ago the moment I first stepped into the kitchens in Cathal Brugha St that food was my future. Since then my passion has blossomed.  (To find out more about Cathal Brugha St or a degree in Culinary Arts click on the following link:

During my time in college we were encouraged to write down all of our recipes and photograph all our work and this is something I have maintained throughout my experiences with food.

This is my first blog and as you would expect I am quite nervous but I feel that I am in a position in life where I have nothing to loose. In this blog I will document all my food encounters, my great love of food, along with all of my creations including photos and recipes.

I hope the blog will ignite a passion for food in others similar to that of mine and that the recipes will guide and assist you in making your own creations.

Best wishes,

Sarah xx
